Minister Roderic O’Gorman TD has announced the publication of the new Childminding Regulations, which came into effect on 30 September 2024.

This is the first time that childminders will be able to register with Tusla under new regulations that reflect the home and family setting in which childminders work and that take into account the unique features of childminding. Please find attached a copy of the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Childminding Services) Regulations 2024.

Pre-registration Training for all Childminders

If you are planning to register with Tusla, you will first need to complete WCCC’s pre-registration training course.
 
WCCC are running this pre-registration training over three evenings in February, the training will be as follows:
 
Thursday 6th February – 7pm-9:30pm (Online)
Thursday 13th February – 7pm-9:30pm (Online)
Thursday 20th February – 7pm-9:30pm (In-Person in Wicklow Town)
 
This training will provide all the information you need to understand what is required under the new regulations and will also explain the registration process.
 
Please note that you must attend all three training sessions in order to receive your certificate.
