Vision Statement

Mission Statement

To proactively work in partnership and effecting positive change with our partners, providers and key stakeholders and implementing the National Childcare Funding Programmes on behalf of DCEDIY at local level in County Wicklow.

The board of the WCCC is made up of 8 members who represent the main statutory bodies, the social partners, local development/partnership groups, parents, childcare providers and the National Voluntary Childcare Organisations.

The WCCC office is located at Kilmantin Hill in Wicklow Town, (directly opposite the old Wicklow Gaol).

WCCC was formed in 2001 and is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) to improve the quality of childcare in Co. Wicklow. Funded by the DCEDIY, 30 of these organisations operate across Ireland and over the last 21 years have been at the centre of all state developments and initiatives aimed at supporting the early years sector. In addition to supporting the administration of all Government funding programmes for childcare, City and County Childcare Committees act as the local ‘one stop shop’ for early childhood services, childminders and parents looking for support with quality development, HR, governance, financial sustainability and continuing professional development. Collectively, City and County Childcare Committees have a national reach into all 4,300 early childhood services across Ireland.

The WCCC staff includes a full-time County Childcare Manager and a Finance Officer, a part-time Training and Information Officer and three Childcare Development Officers.
